What we collect
The game stores your chosen display name, private room code, puzzle configuration, progress, hints, answer-attempt count, expiry, and purchase entitlement. Access keys and recovery tokens are stored on the server as hashes. We do not need your real name, birthday, contacts, camera, microphone, or location.
Your browser stores private access keys for reconnecting, and any private notebook text you write. Notebook text is not sent to our server. You can clear these through your browser’s site-data settings, but save your access key first if you want to return.
Payments and recovery
Stripe Managed Payments acts as merchant of record for eligible purchases, including tax calculation and collection, and collects the payment and contact details entered at checkout under Stripe’s privacy policy. We store checkout and payment reference IDs, amount, payment status, and refunds. We never receive full card numbers. When you request paid-room recovery, we verify the email against your Stripe receipt and send a one-use recovery link. Do not share that link or your access key publicly.
Service providers
Our game runs on the company’s DigitalOcean infrastructure. Stripe handles payments. Transactional recovery email is delivered through our configured email provider. These providers may process information in countries other than yours. Voice calls you make using another app are outside this service.
Retention
Unpaid rooms are available for seven days from creation. Paid rooms remain available for seven days from successful payment. Expired game rooms are removed after a further seven-day grace period. Local payment/event references are retained for up to 180 days; Stripe and the company’s accounting records may retain information longer for financial obligations, fraud prevention, or dispute handling. Private backups are kept for seven days.
IP addresses are used for abuse prevention and rate limiting. Rate-limit records are removed after one day. Necessary error logs may be retained for up to seven days; routine request-body and access-key logging is disabled. Recovery links expire after 15 minutes and work once.
No advertising trackers
This application has no advertising, third-party analytics, social tracking pixels, or marketing cookies. Essential local storage keeps your game usable. Stripe may use its own security and fraud-prevention technologies during checkout. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices
Use a nickname. Leave your private notebook blank if you prefer. Contact the support address to request access, correction, or deletion of information, or to ask about your applicable privacy rights. We may need to verify ownership of a room before acting. Necessary payment and dispute records may have to be retained.
Families
An adult should create the room and make purchases. Children may participate with an adult. We do not request children’s email addresses or allow public chat or public profiles. Please do not put sensitive personal information into display names or notebook text.
